Communities
KeyBank has a longstanding commitment to the communities we serve. To make a lasting difference, we engage with community members and community leaders to understand their needs and ideas, develop plans, and then take action.

We are only as strong and successful as the communities where we live and work, and our clients are embedded in our communities, as are we.
Key is community. You know, that's, that's not a tagline, that's a real thing
We serve the communities.
That's where we live. It's where we work.
KeyBank's commitment to the communities we serve is not just a contemporary traditio, it is a longstanding legacy.
We have been a part of the families in this community and across our markets for generations.
Those are where our clients work and live. Those are where our employees work and live.
Financial empowerment to me is peace of mind.
It's about dreaming a little dream, feeling like you have the tools and the capabilities and the knowledge.
And that means working with our local schools, working with our local churches.
The needs are vast and for us, we are there to create those opportunities. To have a second look, to be that backbone of advice and counsel.
We provided over $1.2 billion in equity and nearly $7 billion in affordable multi-family lending to preserve over 21,000 units of affordable housing.
Many of those developments also provide supportive services, whether that is healthcare, education, job readiness, and workforce development.
It is the dreams of our neighbors, the aspirations of our neighborhoods that drive us forward
It really transforms lives and creates hope for the future. Affordable housing breaks intergenerational poverty.
There are a lot of people in our community that are making tough choices every single day because that's their only option. We can empower people with knowledge, with tools, with resources, with someone to meet you where you are and not to judge you based on your circumstances.
It's amazing. It's probably the best part of my job is, is having the opportunity to see the impact on people's lives and how happy they are and the hope they have for the future.

We love to get involved in community initiatives. Our community gives us so much and we wanna be able to give back. One of the ones that I really wanted to work with was New Avenues, because as a queer woman, I'm able to support the kids in a way that I didn't have support when I was growing up. Making sure that they know that they're loved and cared for.
Our Assist Off the Pitch program was something KeyBank rolled out this year in partnership with the Thorns. For every assist during a Thorns game, KeyBank will donate $5,000.
A gift of this size is going to have a huge impact on the youth that we're serving by providing the needed resources we need in our drop-in center throughout our LGBTQ programs to take those next steps towards self-sufficiency.
One of the most important things for me and my teammates as well, is opening doors for young people.
Key Bank is proud to partner with the Portland Thorns and Megan Klingenberg to open doors for New Avenues for Youth.

As a young woman playing soccer, I didn't have the opportunities that the boys had.
One of the most important things for me and my teammates as well is opening doors for young people.
Creating an environment for young women where they have access to better opportunities, like the Thorns Academy. . . I'm so excited to see all the records that they're gonna knock down.
Sport is an uplifting tool, you know, it helps people learn leadership skills, learn life skills. It's important to have partnerships and programs that help show how important girls are.
This Academy is opening a lot of doors for young females who are very passionate, very committed, who want to pursue soccer at the next level.

There are a lot of kids that didn't have the type of childhood that I have growing up. Soccer just brings so much joy to me that I want to be able to create an environment where other people can also experience that joy.
Sport positively affects lives. She Flies is working to open doors for girls and women to access sports, especially for those underserved populations within our community. We are creating safe spaces for girls and women in sport to come together and feel empowered.

One of the most important things about soccer to me, is the community around it. It brings people together and so anytime that we get an opportunity to give back to the people who support us is an awesome day.

Through that funding, we are able to support our programs for our girls and youth, which we do not charge for at all.
Both the Thorns and KeyBank have been incredible partners helping Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest open doors so that girls and youth can have brighter futures to be strong, smart and bold.

In Clark Fulton, we do know that that's where a lot of the refugees come and settle. And so there's just not enough resources.
We wanna be those folks who can respond to the housing crisis. And KeyBank is allowing Building Hope to be a bridge to impact community directly.
And our goal there really is to help immigrants and refugees kind of move from a, a period of uncertainty and just surviving to thriving here in Cleveland.
Building Hope in the City
No one in the state of Utah should be without food.
366,000 dinners were served last year to children in an afterschool program who probably would not have had dinner that day had we not been able to get the meal to them.
To be able to know that with a partnership like KeyBank, we've made a huge difference.

(Do I clap? Yeah.)
Kindness Farm is a regenerative farm where everything that we grow gets donated to our houseless and low income neighbors.
I didn't want to sell anything. I just wanted to give all this food to people who really need it. Having access to something so fresh, especially when you're in a situation where you can't really get access to that is very life changing.
I received an email: KeyBank would like to complete your GoFundMe. That would be amazing!
The GoFundMe fundraiser will allow us to put in an irrigation system, prepare the farm for winter, put in fencing, develop our internship programs more, and create more partnerships in our community.
Community to me means a supportive environment of people who show up for you, making a conscious effort to be there for one another.

My name is Jillian Haynesworth. I'm the founder of Literary Freedom and the poet laureate of Buffalo. My skill has always been writing, and that's just what I have to offer.
Literacy is a big issue in the community I grew up in. I wanna do something for my city. We need to build libraries, and I'll bring books to the neighborhoods. That's when the grand idea of Buffalo Books was born.
I need to raise $10,000 and then I'm gonna build 10 libraries and I'm gonna get them painted by local artists and put books written by local authors in them. Keeping everything right in the community.
I got this email from KeyBank: "We saw your GoFundMe, and we wanna pay it."
For them to just say, we're gonna send the money and we're gonna let you do what you need to do, was the best thing that they could have done for us.
Community is where you find your home. We can all work together to create a more inclusive home for each other.

I'm local Seattle artist, Desmond Hanson. There's these electrical boxes around my city that control all the traffic lights. I add art to those and create some scenery that otherwise wouldn't be there. When they approach an intersection that would've been on the dreary side, they can now look over at something that gets their wheels turning and makes 'em think a little bit about their surroundings.
I had a person ask me if I had a GoFundMe. Things were progressing and more people were donating. I want to paint hundreds of these.
KeyBank sent me an email they really want to help. They showed up big time and really supported what I was doing. The GoFundMe allowed me to cover things like paint, weather protection and permits.
I do my mural work all over, and I get the support of my community for it. It just lights a fire in me that makes me want to keep going.

It was inspiring to hear the community supporting this project, and then of course, when KeyBank contacted us to help us satiate the rest of the goal. That was just amazing.
When you talk about community, you're talking about your home and a place like this brings that community into a singular place, so a home can be one place for everyone.

Moments before the tornado actually hit the house. I had gotten the kids and told them, we are going to have to go. There's a tornado around us, but I don't know if it's coming our way, but we gotta get in this bathroom.
When we got out of the bathroom and we walked, we could see of course the installation, but it was something to see that the whole roof was gone. The wall was flew down. I didn't even see the furniture in there, to be honest.
Everything basically was a total loss. The only thing that was salvageable was maybe a few things like I could grab at the kitchen.
KeyBank helped a lot because of the fact that I was a tornado survivor. We were given $5,000 grant to purchase a home, you know, and I'm thankful 'cause now my granddaughter, she has a fenced-in backyard. She'll be able to run around and play and once she gets old enough.

Local restaurants are much more than just places we eat in this holiday season. Key Bank Assists kept the good going, supporting local businesses and charities across the country in partnership with hometown restaurant enthusiasts like Chef Darien Bryan.
I'll be teaming up with KeyBank for the KeyBank Assists program to support local restaurants and charities here in Buffalo, New York, this holiday season.
One of our favorite holiday tradition is to go there and enjoy the amazing pancakes. It's such an amazing feeling to be out celebrating and enjoying some of our favorite dishes. Thank you so much, KeyBank, with the KeyBank Assists Program.

My name is Brianna Adams, and I serve as KeyBank's Corporate Responsibility Officer for our Colorado and Utah markets. At Key, we know that one size doesn't fit all when it comes to meeting community need, which is why our work looks different from state to state and city to city.
Recently, in Colorado Springs where over 16% of the local population are veterans, we awarded a $10,000 grant to Mount Carmel Veterans Service Center. Mount Carmel serves as a one-stop shop for veterans, military, and their families. The organization collaborates with over 45 private, nonprofit and government agencies to deliver a variety of services all in one central location.
KeyBank recognizes Veterans Day as well as National Veterans and Military Families Month.
On behalf of KeyBank, thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

The east side of Buffalo. One of the things that has a great challenge within this community is, um, food insecurity. There should be more access to fresh produce.
There was a massacre at the only supermarket in our community. It forced people to look for other places that they could go for fresh produce.
And that supermarket supported this entire community of several hundred thousand people, and it just, it shined a light on the lack of access to food.
Other than these little corner stores, there's, there's nothing in this neighborhood.
So if you're stressing about finances or where you're gonna get your next meal, all of that stuff is gonna be detrimental to your health.
The farmer's market tries to solve for that. Through our partnership with Alison Dehoney, who runs the Buffalo Go Green, we're able to bring fresh produce to the community.
Brussels sprouts, herbs, green peppers, zucchini . . . Not only are we bringing this market, but thanks to KeyBank, we're able to give every single patron a voucher.
It is helping the children and the adult citizens, allowing them to get nutritious meals.
It is good to have fresh vegetables available in the neighborhood.
It's so great to have this here in the neighborhood.
Say, "Hey, we are going to invest in this neighborhood and we are invested in this neighborhood.," says a lot about KeyBank and what they're looking to do.
They recognize the importance of being able to provide something as fundamental as having access to fresh fruits and vegetables
It's an amazing thing, but it's just a small start. There's so much more to do. And I think if we just do our part and encourage other private businesses to do their part, we'll just continue to see progress there.
Meeting the community where it is and making sure that people are thriving.
Delavan-Grider Farmers Market
We did not see a future in the community that had been home to us for so long.
Our response was to initiate a planning process, our own community-based planning process.
The organization has also been really a, a vanguard in terms of the need for anti-displacement solutions, intervention — not just for our work, but for changing kind of the policy, environment, and conversation overall to create a sense of urgency and focus on a more equitable and inclusive Seattle that includes us.
